Catalinbread Fuzzrite Germanium
Catalinbread · pedal
The Catalinbread Fuzzrite Germanium is a modern recreation of the late 1960s Mosrite Fuzzrite, a classic garage and psychedelic fuzz. Using germanium transistors, it produces a warmer, smoother, more organic fuzz with more dynamics and character than the silicon version, and is far less gated thanks to revised biasing. A V and M switch selects a vintage voicing for authentic late-sixties tone or a modern setting with beefed-up low end. At extreme settings it yields voltage-starved gated textures, ring-modulation-style upper-octave harmonics, and a thin, aggressive, ripping top end with a big bloom on the notes. It captures vintage two-transistor fuzz character while taming the original temperature instability.
