Music Man · amplifier
The Music Man 212-HD One-Thirty is a 130-watt 2x12 combo built around four 6CA7 output tubes with a circuit closely mirroring a Fender Twin Reverb, giving it a similarly loud, headroom-rich clean platform under Music Man's own branding. Mark Knopfler began using Music Man amps around September 1978 and relied on them for every Dire Straits live show through the end of the Making Movies On Location tour in 1981, likely including some of the era's studio recordings as well, making this amp a real part of the band's classic early sound. Decades later and in an entirely different musical context, Soundgarden's Kim Thayil ran a 65-watt Music Man HD130 as one of three amps, alongside a Peavey VTM-120 and a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, during the recording of the band's breakout album Badmotorfinger.
