Tone City Matcha Cream

Tone City · pedal

The Tone City Matcha Cream is a budget mini fuzz based on the Green Russian Big Muff, not the overdrive its name might suggest. It is a darker Muff variant with a great deal of low end, delivering smooth, heavily saturated fuzz with a long singing sustain and a genuine wall-of-sound scale despite the tiny enclosure. Three controls -- Sustain for gain, Volume, and a Tone dial governing the highs -- keep it simple. It nails the saturated, smashing 1990s alternative rock voice and works well as a solo pedal thanks to its sustain-rich character, though it lacks the aggressive power of higher-end doom-oriented fuzzes. Build quality is notably solid for the price. Requires a 9V DC supply and will not run on a battery.
