Pink Lucy is a custom Flying V built by luthier John Bolin in 1988 as a birthday gift from ZZ Tops Billy Gibbons to Albert King, one of several Flying V copies King owned and named Lucy throughout his career, following the original 1959 Korina Flying V he played on his classic Stax recordings. Finished in magenta sparkle, Pink Lucy became Kings primary instrument for the remainder of his career following the gift, until his death in 1992. King owned several Lucy guitars built by different luthiers including Dan Erlewine and Tom Holmes, all continuing the Flying V shape and naming tradition of the original.
