The Mission Engineering NuAudio Velocity is a dual-gain overdrive and distortion built around the Korg Nutube, a vacuum fluorescent display redesigned to work as a genuine audio amplifying valve. That gives real tube harmonic content, natural compression and touch sensitivity in a pedal drawing far less power, lasting longer and staying much smaller than a conventional valve design, running from a standard 9V DC supply. A Lo/Hi gain switch sets the range: Lo is a subtle overdrive for pushing an amp's front end slightly harder, while Hi introduces genuine tube crunch building to a full saturated lead tone as the drive control opens. Three further knobs give bass, middle and treble EQ for a wide voicing range, and higher gain settings retain excellent pick responsiveness rather than compressing into mush.
