Shins Music · pedal
The Shin's Music Double Trouble is a point-to-point hand-wired dual overdrive from Tokyo, pairing two Tube Screamer-derived circuits so both can run together -- built around Stevie Ray Vaughan's practice of stacking two green boxes. Channel one is the modern voice, based on the 9-series sound: crisper, with slightly higher gain and a cutting edge suited to lead work. Channel two is the vintage voice, based on the 808: lower gain with rich mids and a fuller bottom end, ideal as an amp pusher or booster. Because the two derive from different circuits they work independently as well as stacked, and running both produces the fat, glassy, singing sustain associated with SRV's clean-amp tone.
