The Wren and Cuff Eye See '78 is a boutique recreation of the rare 1978 op-amp era Big Muff circuit, the V4/V5 IC-based variant that replaced the original's transistors and was only produced for about two years, delivering a growling, ferocious sledgehammer fuzz with a buzzy, aggressive midrange that is crunchier and more ballsy than most vintage transistor-based Big Muffs. It produces the monstrous, wooly fuzz tone popularized by Billy Corgan on Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream. A tone-bypass switch removes the tone control from the circuit entirely for a significantly more open, raw, full-frequency sound with a pronounced midrange hump, at higher volume than the standard voicing.
