This is the Fender Custom Shop replica of Eddie Van Halen's original 1978 Frankenstein guitar, hand-built by master builder Chip Ellis to reproduce every detail of the red-white-and-black striped body, the routed single humbucker, and the trem setup of the source instrument. John Frusciante owns one and played it on camera in the Red Hot Chili Peppers video for Dani California, and used it to record the Van Halen-inspired lead on his solo track Eddie. As a faithful replica rather than a stock production model, its specs track the 1978 original: a Boogie Bodies-style basswood body, a single humbucker in the bridge, and a vintage-style Floyd Rose-precursor trem.
