The Marshall Studio JTM ST20C is a 20-watt 1x12 combo based on the very first Marshall heads, the JTM circuits that predate even the 1959 Super Lead Plexi. It runs 5881 output tubes rather than the EL34s used across most of the Marshall range, which is a large part of why it sounds different: warmer, rounder and more American-flavoured, reflecting the JTM's origins as a reworking of the Fender Bassman circuit. That places it at the opposite end of the Studio series from the aggressive JCM800-based SC20, with a softer and more gradual breakup. Power switches down for lower-volume use. It suits blues, blues rock and classic rock players wanting the earliest Marshall voice.
